Everyone is talking about “organic” right now; it’s just one of those buzz words like “global warming” or “election”. Organic toddler foods are swiftly becoming a bigger force in grocery stores as people become aware of the benefits of this method of food production and aware of the drawbacks of inorganic. Therefore it seems only natural that many varieties of organic toddler foods would start to arise from this new information. After all, if you found out that by not feeding these to your child you were exposing him to harmful pesticides or antibiotics, wouldn’t you switch? Dictionary.com defines organic as: “pertaining to, involving, or grown with fertilizers or pesticides of animal or vegetable origin, as distinguished from manufactured chemicals.” Essentially this means that there are no man-made chemicals involved in the processing of this food which makes it less harmful to a toddler or to you.
By the toddler stage many children are eating the same meals as their parents. If this is the case you may have to switch your entire family to organic. They may not like this at first because it will be different, but with encouragement they will understand the benefits and eventually learn to like this variety of food. If you find that organic is not for your entire family or if you find that you cannot afford to go organic consider placing younger children on a diet of organic toddler foods to increase nutrients and hone a love of healthful foods for the future. Many supermarkets carry a variety of these foods that are geared specifically toward toddlers, such as: milk, yogurt, cheese, and baby carrots.
